Over the past few months, I’ve come to realize that there are some great shows on TV! If you aren’t watching any of these shows, please hop on the bandwagon ASAP! I still regret not catching any of these shows during their initial 1st Season runs, but thanks to sites like Netflix, I’ve been able play catch up via Watch Instantly through their website, or have the DVD’s sent to me. Here are just some of the shows I’ve been watching.
All 5 Seasons are available on Netflix Watch Instantly
Suburban widow Nancy Botwin (Golden Globe winner Mary-Louise Parker) launches a profitable but unlikely business venture as pot dealer in the first season of this hit Showtime series about the challenges of managing motherhood — and marijuana.
Steven Spielberg created this wry cable series that follows Tara (Toni Collette, in a Golden Globe-winning role), a wife and mother suffering from a dissociative identity disorder. As she wrestles with multiple personalities, Tara works to keep her dysfunctional family from falling apart. John Corbett co-stars as Tara’s husband, who finds ways of coping with his wife’s mutability. Keir Gilchrist and Brie Larson play the couple’s children.
Diagnosed with cancer and given only two years left to live, high school chemistry teacher Walter (Emmy winner Bryan Cranston) attempts to secure his family’s financial future by teaming up with his former student, Jesse (Aaron Paul), to produce and distribute the illegal drug meth. As Walter slowly builds his empire, his wife, Skyler (Anna Gunn), grows suspicious of his erratic behavior, and the DEA starts searching for the area’s new drug kingpin.
Andy Whitfield (“McLeod’s Daughters”) stars as the titular Spartacus — an imprisoned Roman soldier who fights for his life as a gladiator before being sold into slavery — in this lavish Starz series that blends elements of action and fantasy. Lucy Lawless (“Xena: Warrior Princess”) co-stars as Lucretia, the beautiful woman who becomes Spartacus’s mistress when her husband (John Hannah) becomes the scrappy slave’s owner.
