My Theatrical GONE WITH THE WIND Experience!

Besides Filmmaking, KaMeek Lucas Taitt also likes to write about Random Topics he finds interesting in the wonderful World Wide Web.

A few weeks ago, Film Forum was having a retrospective on the work of Director Victor Fleming and when I found out that Gone With The Wind was being shown, I immediately jumped at the chance. What kind of movie buff would I be if I passed up a chance to see one of the most talked about, and arguably one of the greatest films ever made in a packed theater??

It’s one thing to hear about a particular film for years, and then see the film in the confines of your house, but to experience it with a full crowd is a completely different animal. The house was packed, the people laughed, screamed, & I found a new appreciation for a film I’ve seen MANY times over the years. While I wasn’t there to experience the film upon its initial release in 1939, I got a small taste of the theatrical experience, an experience I’ll never forget.

*Ironically, I just recently picked up Victor Fleming’s Biography a week before the event*
